Most states have programs to help midlife professionals successfully make the transtion from the corporate world to teaching. As both the son of educators and the spouse of an educator, I can tell you that it is a rewarding career, but also one where good training and teaching skills are important. Like a change to any other career, you want to be the best you can be, so learning the skills and techniques of pedigogy are important in making the transition to being a good teacher. Each state's programs are a little different, so if you're also thinking of a relocation along with your career change, be sure to investigate your planned new location's requirements.
